Dormitory Life(宿舍生活)

Etiquette

  • Hoyeon Residence Complex functions not only as the students' home but also as an educational institution. As intellectuals, all residents should take an active part in the community, not selfishly but altruistically. Also, Hoyeon Residence Complex will do its best for all residents to make themselves academically professional intellectuals.

Dormitory Regulations

  • All residents at Hoyeon Residence Complex will live together as a dormitory community. Also, they have to keep all dormitory regulations and policies for the common good, and should do their best to make the academic environment more comfortable, and make the facilities and fixtures better. If a resident's behavior violates the rules, the resident will be punished with demerits. (Refer to Demerits on the Homepage)

Entrance Prohibition of Non-residents and Other People

  • Non-residents are not permitted in any residence of Hoyeon Residence Complex without permission except during the periods of official check-in, check-out, and open house. Additionally, female and male residents cannot enter their opposite gender's halls, and when they use the public areas such as the dormitory store, cafeteria, laundry, R&C Zone of Libertas Dormitory, and resting rooms of Hoyeon, all female and male residents need to their gender's gates or doors. If any resident violates this rule, he or she will be punished with demerits or will be removed.

Care of Dormitory Keys

  • When checking-in, residents will get keys from the office, and then they need to check whether the keys include a pass card with their room number, room keys, and wardrobe keys. If you lose your keys, you should report it to the office, and the office will levy a charge (Refer to Homepage). If your new keys are reissued by the office, the old keys are then useless because the key cylinder will be changed and all your roommates will also have to change their room keys. Please take care of your keys.

Roll Call and Sleeping-Out

  • At 00:00am after closing-time, the electric check-in and check-out system of the Hoyeon Residence Complex will automatically check all residents. Because all checking processing is automatically programmed, all residents should be aware of the curfew and carefully check themselves in and out at the gate. There are no specific regulations for sleeping-out. However, if a resident sleeps out without permission, there will be no demerits, but the next morning the information about the resident's sleeping-out will be messaged to his or her parents by phone, except Friday to Monday.

Random Checking

  • The faculty and staff at Hoyeon Residence Complex will unexpectedly check all residents' rooms for the residents' safety. They will check for clean rooms and etiquette in order to maintain a good dormitory community, so they will appreciate the residents' kind and close cooperation. If your attitude is not cooperative, you will be required to counsel with your Life Mentor and receive demerits.

Segregated Collection and Hygiene

  • Hoyeon Residence Complex permits the residents to have some food inside the dormitory for the residents' convenience. Thus, all residents who want to eat food inside the dormitory should take other students into careful consideration. After eating, all residents must clean up after themselves by using the segregated food collection system and all containers must be cleanly kept inside container chests beside the entrance door of each hall. Also, Hoyeon Residence Complex takes regular preventive measures against epidemics, and checks cold and hot water purifiers every month. Monthly, a professional company checks for infectious disease in all rooms and basement facilities, and all water purifier filters are changed in the beginning of each semester.

Subsidiary Facilities (Cafeteria / Dormitory Store / Sky Cafe)

  • The cafeteria in Truth Hall is only for the residents with planned-meals. It serves both Korean and Western style food for breakfast, only Korean or Western style food for dinner, and various kinds of light meals for lunch. All conscious efforts are made by the cafeteria to serve the best quality food using good hygiene. Properly portioned food reduces waste. Also, cafeteria items, such as cups, spoons, and chopsticks, can not be removed from the cafeteria.

Weekend Mealtimes

All residents who want to have meals on weekends should purchase weekend meal coupons at the cafeteria store for specific dates. The residents can buy meal coupons for 3 meals (Friday/Dinner to Saturday/Lunch, Saturday/Breakfast to Saturday/Dinner, and Saturday/Dinner to Sunday/Lunch) and for 6 meals (Friday/Dinner to Sunday/Lunch). The regular period of selling and refunding meal coupons is from Monday to Thursday every week.

Special Events

Special events are planned for planned-meal residents at Veritas Dormitory.

  • Special Food Service : Serving special food every month
  • Birthday Party Events: There is a monthly birthday celebration for 20 randomly selected residents who have a birthday within that month.
  • Serving Snacks: Snacks are served twice during the mid-term and final exam period
  • Various Events planned monthly

Sky Cafe (English Cafe)

  • The Sky Cafe is located in the bridge on the 7th floor of Hoyeon 4-Hall, in which all residents must obligatorily use English as their communicative language. Also, free coffee or beverages and toast are served to the visitors of the Sky Cafe.
  • (Open : Monday to Friday => 13:00pm to 23:00pm, Sunday => 17:00pm to 23:00pm, Only Saturday is closed.)

Furniture and Fixtures

  • For the residents' convenience, each room has various kinds of furniture and fixtures such as a bed, a mattress, a wardrobe, a desk, a bookshelf, a chair, a desk lamp, a wastebasket, and an Internet line. In case the residents purposely move any furniture or fixtures without permission, they will be punished with demerits. Individual supplies such as bedding and toiletries articles should be supplied by the residents themselves.

Laundry

  • For the residents' convenience, there is a laundry service and self-serve coin laundry machines. The laundry service is located on the 1st floor of Veritas Dormitory, and self-serve coin laundry is on the 1st floor of the basement of Libertas Dormitory, Justitia Dormitory, and Futurus Dormitory and on the 4th floor of the female and male wings of Veritas Dormitory. Personal laundry has to be done by the resident him or herself to prevent laundry loss, and also residents have to distinguish washing machines from drying machines in order to prevent mistakes such as putting detergent and cleaners into drying machines.

Mail/Door-to-Door Delivery

  • The regular mail is put in the mailboxes on each floor in each hall, and the registered mail and door-to-door delivery that needs the receiver's signature are kept in the security office on the 1st floor of each hall. The receiver who wants to get door-to-door delivery has to show his or her identification card.

The Internet

  • A Mobile IP(DHCP Organization) system is in the whole area of Hoyeon Residence Complex for the residents' convenience. The residents can use the Internet by connecting the Internet line to a PC or laptop. Also, the campus has a free anti-virus program for the university community. All residents must do their best to keep the Internet environment clean through regular updates, window patches, and anti-virus programs. However, a person can only use one IP. If a resident improperly uses the Internet , his or her internet will be disconnected and demerits will be made, and the names of the disconnected users will be announced on the Internet. Please take care while using the Internet.

Telephone

  • Telephones are installed in all dormitory rooms. The residents' telephone is only connected to other rooms, the security office, and the offices at Hoyeon Residence Complex. If the resident wants to phone from outside the dormitory to a room, press 044-865-9230 + Room Number(4 digits). Also, if the resident wants to phone offices from a room, first press 40 and then the office phone number. If the resident abuses their telephone privileges, he or she will have demerits.

Repairs

  • Hoyeon Residence Complex routinely repairs the facilities to make the residents' life more comfortable and convenient. If there are any complaints or discomfort in using the facilities, the resident can inform them in the item [Please fix it] on the Homepage, and then repairers will be made.

Electrical Appliances

  • Due to potential fire hazards and limited quantity of electricity, some kinds of electrical appliances such as computers, hair driers, and flat irons, are permitted. However, electrical appliances such as electric or space heaters, cooking appliances, coffee makers or pots are prohibited. Please refer to the permission information of electrical appliances in the information corner-FAQ of the Homepage.

Prohibition of Drinking, Gambling, Smoking, and Violence

  • All residents must follow all policies and regulations of the Hoyeon Residence Complex in order to make all residents' lives better. All behavior that threatens the welfare, health, and/or safety of other residents is prohibited. More specifically, inside all halls of Hoyeon Residence Complex, drinking alcohol (including bringing liquor into the residence), gambling, smoking, and violence are prohibited. If these regulations are ignored by the residents, demerits will be made.

Anti-Noise

  • Various kinds of excessive noises from music, singing, cellular phone conversation, and indoor exercise, can disturb other residents. Please be quiet inside all halls to make the best academic environment possible.

Energy Conservation

  • All residents must follow the regulations and policies of energy conservation of Hoyeon Residence Complex. In spite of the emphasis on water and energy conservation, some residents use an excessive amount of water and energy. Because all public water and electric rates are paid from the residents' dormitory fees, the university will appreciate all residents' energy conservation efforts.
